You&#39;ll travel through a variety of contrasting landscapes, from lush rainforest to stunning ochre savannah plains&nbsp;during this one-of-a-kind day tour.

The Atherton Tableland&#39;s&nbsp;rich volcanic soil allows farmers to grow many diverse crops from bananas, coffee, sugar cane, avocados, mangoes, macadamia nuts, citrus and more. When you come on this adventure you&#39;ll be visiting environmentally sustainable small producers, with your visit helping to contribute&nbsp;to their survival and overall benefitting&nbsp;the local community. You will learn more about&nbsp;them as you taste your way around the region&#39;s&nbsp;&#39;Food Bowl&#39;, with stops at seven exceptional producers.&nbsp;

<h4>Stop 1: Lake Barrine National Park &amp; Heritage Tea House</h4>

Travel in comfort one-hour from Cairns via the scenic Gillies Highway brings you to the cool atmosphere of the Atherton Tablelands, where you will come across a beautiful, enchanting natural lake hidden in World Heritage Rainforest. Lake Barrine is something special as it is actually a water filled crater left by a volcanic eruption approximately 10,000 years ago. Start your day with a delicious breakfast of local produce and enjoy a special &#39;Lake Barrine&#39; coffee or local tea at the charming 80-year-old lakeside teahouse, set amongst beautiful terraced gardens.&nbsp;

<h4>Stop 2: Historic town of Malanda&nbsp;for morning tea</h4>

<h4>Prepare yourself for a scenic short drive to Malanda wher you will visit a private property to taste their signature condiments utilising locally grown Davidson (Ooray) plum, lemon aspen (rainforest citrus), lillypilly (rainforest berries) and rainforest (Boonjie) tamarind in traditional artisanal recipes infused with the unique qualities of Australian rainforest fruits. You will also get the opportunity to taste a native fruit cocktail whilst overlooking the delightful Johnston River from their River Pavilion.</h4>

<h4>Stop 3: Lunch at the Australian Platypus Park (Tarzali Lakes)</h4>

The Australian Platypus Park is home to a thriving platypus population. You can find these wonderful creatures in a spring-fed pond surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Take a wander down to see them in this magnificent setting then sit down to enjoy flavoured handcrafted smoked products for lunch&nbsp;combined with a unique blend of local Australian native herbs and spices.

Today&#39;s lunch menu is tailored specifically for this tour,&nbsp;produced in-house using only the freshest quality ingredients. You will get the opportunity to try crocodile, red claw (yabby) and kangaroo with fresh local salads topped off with a &#39;Tarzali Lakes&#39; boutique beer, dragon fruit cider, lemon myrtle tea and some tastings of the Murdering Point Winery range. Find something you want to take with you? You&#39;ll have time to purchase some of the smoked products and sauces before departing for the next venue.

<h4>Stop 4: Mungalli Creek Dairy&nbsp;</h4>

In the rolling green hills of the Southern Tablelands, you will find our next stop Mungalli Creek Dairy, North Queensland&rsquo;s only Biodynamic Farmhouse Cheesery &amp; Cafe.&nbsp;The family-oened business uses biodynamic farming techniques - the next level of farming beyond organics. The cows graze year-round on lush biodynamic (organic) mountain pastures, bringing a quality that you will taste in all the delicious milk, cheese, yoghurt, cream and ice-cream products that they make. A selection of their delicious produce are provided for tastings at the cafe which is the original Watson family farmhouse.

<h4>Stop 5: The Humpy&nbsp;</h4>

Continue through a patchwork of farmland, diverse crops and rolling green hills for a&nbsp;tasting and shopping treat, stopping&nbsp;at&nbsp;&#39;The Humpy&#39; &ndash;&nbsp;the best place to go to for&nbsp;freshly harvested Atherton Tablelands produce&nbsp;straight from the growers. There&#39;s everything from&nbsp;vegetables&nbsp;to&nbsp;tropical fruits&nbsp;and hundreds of different&nbsp;nuts,&nbsp;dried fruits,&nbsp;and&nbsp;locally produced&nbsp;jams&nbsp;and&nbsp;sauces. Taste some&nbsp;seasonal fruits&nbsp;and many different flavours of&nbsp;hot local peanuts&nbsp;and&nbsp;macadamia nuts. Enjoy&nbsp;time to browse this unique and&nbsp;quirky grocery store&nbsp;so you can purchase goodies for the rest of your stay.

<h4>Stop 6: Mount Uncle Distillery</h4>

Just&nbsp;down the road, you&#39;ll arrive at&nbsp;Mount Uncle Distillery, North Queensland&#39;s&nbsp;first and only distillery, where you&#39;ll&nbsp;taste some of their&nbsp;award-winning liqueurs and spirits.&nbsp;Stretch your legs with a wander around this stunning property nestled in&nbsp;coffee and banana plantations, with beautiful gardens and some friendly animals.

Stop 7: Emerald Creek Icecreamery&nbsp; 
 
The final&nbsp;stop for the day (for a tasty dessert) is at the Emerald Creek Icecreamery. Their ice-cream is made on-site in their factory using pure cream and full cream milk. Sorbets (dairy free, full fruit) also made on-site using local Tablelands fruit. Relax&nbsp;of the balcony overlooking the property and enjoy a cup of Jaques coffee and delicious scones with homemade strawberry and blueberry jam and cream. Plus, the locally made ice cream.&nbsp;

It&#39;s time to get your full belly back onto the bus and depart back to your accommodation in Cairns.&nbsp;
